Trump Offers To Help Cure British Baby’s Rare Disease
Donald Trump, in a rare moment of generosity, has offered to help a terminally ill British baby on Twitter saying “If we can help little #CharlieGard, as per our friends in the U.K. and the Pope, we would be delighted to do so.”
Charlie is suffering from a rare genetic condition which makes it impossible for him to breathe. His parents have tried bringing him into the US for treatment, however, unfortunately losing the legal battle for trial therapy, which prohibited them from entering the States. White House spokeswoman Helen Aguirre Ferre stated that the members of the Trump administration have spoken to Gard’s family, calling the entire situation ‘heartbreaking‘.
She said, “Although the president himself has not spoken to the family, he does not want to pressure them in any way, members of the administration have spoken to the family in calls facilitated by the British government. The president is just trying to be helpful if at all possible.”
