Body-Positive Model Tess Holliday Gets Called Out By Uber Driver For Being Fat
Popular model Tess Holliday has been a leading advocate of the body-positive movement, so it isn’t surprising that when an Uber driver decided to fat-shame her, she took to social media to call him out.
Through an Instagram post, published wednesday, Holliday took the opportunity to let Uber know that she would not be using their services moving forward. She also used the forum to express her views on how no one deserves to be body-shamed, especially not when it comes from someone clearly suffering from weight gains themselves.
In the clip shared by her on IG, you can hear the driver asking her about her “cholestrol”, to which Holliday snapped back with, “My cholestrol is fine, yeah. I’m healthy.”
As she mentions in the post, the driver doesn’t just question her health at her size, but challenges her assertions. She writes, “No one should have to tolerate this at any level of the services you offer. I’m fat. I also have a fat wallet & will no longer be using your services.”
Hey @uber I don't pay more to use your "black car" service to be told that there's no way I could possibly be healthy because I'm fat & then questioning it. No one should have to tolerate this at any level of the services you offer. I'm fat. I also have a fat wallet & will no longer be using your services. Ever. Also after I told him I was healthy he turned the radio off & changed the subject. #putmymoneywheremymouthis #uberdriver #uber Edited to add: saying my driver is fat was obviously being used as a descriptor & not to insult him. Also I did not show his face or use his name when filming, it was to be able to show what I deal with daily & why this behavior is unacceptable from anyone.
