The Republican Dam Protecting Trump Is Beginning To Crack
The GOP which till date had continued to offer the only resistance to having oversight over Trump away, seems to finally be wavering in light of Trump’s latest decisions.
At a dinner for the International Republican Institute, Arizona Senator John McCain spoke out about Trump’s decision to fire Comey, comparing the recent developments coming out of the White House to Nixon and Watergate.
@SenJohnMcCain at IRI dinner now- "We've seen this movie before. It's reaching Watergate size and scale….This is not good for the country"

Jason Chaffetz, who is the Chair of House Committee, has requested for the detailed information with regards to Comey’s interactions with Trump. Backing his request, Cathy Rodgers, member of the House GOP Leadership, and Paul Ryan, speaker of the house, have also requested for the same.
While this might not be considered a drastic or dramatic step, considering the backing Trump has received since his election, this comes as an extremely significant move by the GOP.
