POTUS Trump Want’s A Ride On The UK Monarchy’s Royal Chariot
Well we might be just past Easter, but ‘His Lordship’, the Distinguished President of the United States, Donald J. Trump has already set his sights on an early Christmas present.
In what is already giving his security detail the chills, the POTUS has requested to ride in the British Monarch’s personal golden state carriage during his October visit to the Buckingham Palace. As per the Times of London, some officials have disclosed that, “The White House has made clear it regards the carriage procession down the Mall as an essential element of the itinerary for the visit currently planned for the second week of October.”
The carriage has been known to be used during special state visits – such as when the Chinese President Xi Jinpeng used it when he visited in 2015, although opting for a more secure, closed carriage. In his visit in 2011, Obama himself chose to forego the carriage in order to avoid causing any undue concerns for his detail.
But lets not deviate the topic from his Lordships requests. As reported by the Times, “the security required by the Chinese president will be dwarfed by the operation necessitated for Mr. Trump.”
The Times further broke down the number of security measures being taken by London’s bravest to ensure POTUS stay’s safe – from extra units and closed roads to counter-terrorism firearms.
Wonder how much extra that would cost both countries…hmm
